Two Hours, Four Thefts at Popular Fredericksburg Gym
The lockers contained wallets and other valuable items during the break-ins Jan. 9, the Fredericksburg Police report.
Locks were unable to stop the multiple thefts that occurred in a gym locker room over the span of less than two hours, according to the Fredericksburg police.
Four thefts were reported from 9:50 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. Friday at Planet Fitness, 1267 Jefferson Davis Highway. Wallets and other valuable items were taken from locked lockers, the Fredericksburg police reports.
This is not the first gym thefts reported in Fredericksburg. Two reports of locker break-ins were reported on Sept. 8. One was at the Planet Fitness and the other just a little over two miles away at Gold’s Gym, 2380 Plank Road. In both cases three lockers were broke into wear valuable items were located.

Keep items safe when locking them up at the gym with the following tips from Vicky Hallett in The Washington Post:
- Leave your wallet and cellphone in your car, secured in the trunk.
- Choose lockers near the end of the row, because they can be seen by more people and are less likely to be tampered with.
- If you use your own lock to secure your property, don’t make it a cheap one (i.e., don’t use a $5 lock for a $300 phone).
