UMW Names New Volleyball Coach

Matt Troy is the new head volleyball coach at the University of Mary Washington (UMW), according to the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC).

"Troy comes to Fredericksburg from Johns Hopkins University, where he led the Blue Jays to a 77-21 record with two NCAA Tournament appearances in three years at the helm," CAC reported.

In 2012, the Blue Jays had a "program-best win-loss record of 29-4," and they won the Centennial Conference title for the second-consecutive year.

UMW Athletic Director Ken Tyler acknowledged "the outstanding tenure of long-time volleyball coach Dee Conway" and said she will remain at UMW as head softball coach.

Troy, his wife, Melissa and their four daughters are moving to the Fredericksburg area shortly after the new year.
