USPS Reveals New Love Series Stamps in 'Virginia is for Lovers'

The adorable 2015 design is available now just in time for Valentine's Day.

Where is better to celebrate the two 2015 love stamps reveal than in a state that insists that ‘Virginia is for Lovers’?

The Love series dates back to 1973 when each stamp was only eight cents. From flowers to hearts and ribbons to candy the United States Postal Service adds a love themed stamp to the collection every year.

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond was the location for the big unveiling on Jan. 22.

The design features a lacy heart spelling the word ‘Forever.’ One stamp has red letters with a white background and the other has the opposite coloring. Artist Jessica Hische first drew the design by hand and then finished it digitally.

Fredericksburg residents can pick up the new Forever Hearts stamps at the post office, 600 Princess Anne Street.

“Our Forever Hearts stamps reminds people of the power of everlasting love,” U.S. Postal Service Capital Metro Area Vice President Kristin Seaver said in a news release. “In that spirit, we hope the stamp will help you send all of your cards and letters to those you care about with a special touch of love and cheer.”

Although the stamps are limited edition, they should be used well past Valentine’s Day because love never goes out of season.
