VRE Train Stopped for Downed Tree in Rippon Area

Commuters waiting for crew to arrive to clear tree after heavy storm sweeps through region.

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A commuter train was stopped in Rippon on Tuesday afternoon after a tree fell on the tracks, according to an alert from VRE.

Heavy rains swept through shortly before the notice went out.

"Tree is blocking both tracks south of Rippon," according to a 7:21 p.m. statement. "Waiting for workers to arrive to clear the tree."
