  1. Today (Jun. 10), Mary Washington Healthcare will host a free community baby shower for new and soon-to-be parents. During the event, taking place from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the John F. Fick III Conference Center, parents can access resources and speak with pediatricians, NICU nurses, labor and delivery staff, lactation consultants, and more. The event will feature raffles, refreshments, goodie bags, and free car seat safety checks from Fredericksburg Police Department. Register here. (WUSA9.com)
  2. Celebrating Wawa's 25th anniversary in Virginia, the Wawa Foundation will honor 25 volunteers who are making an impact in the state. The Virginia Local Hero Award allows non-profit organizations the chance to nominate a volunteer, with each recipient earning a $1,000 contribution given in their name to their affiliated nonprofit organization. Submissions will be accepted through Jun. 30 and can be submitted here. (Convenience.org)
  3. On Wednesday evening, a suspect broke into a Spotsylvania County home and shot a man. The 39-year-old victim, who has since been released, was treated at a local hospital after suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body at a home in the 300 block of Southgate Avenue. Authorities are still looking to identify the suspects and have yet to make an arrest. (Patch)
