FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Visits and pictures with Santa Claus are treasured traditions for many Fredericksburg families.

In Fredericksburg, kids have several chances to see jolly old St. Nick in person.

The big, classic “see Santa” event in town is the Fredericksburg Santa Train.

  • When: Saturday, Dec. 13, 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.
  • Where: Fredericksburg Visitor Center at 601 Caroline St., Fredericksburg
  • Details: Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. In-person tickets go on sale Monday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center. VRE staff will remain onsite until 12 p.m. or all tickets are sold. Limit five tickets per person. Payment: $5 cash or check; $6 credit card. Starting Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m., tickets can be purchased online on Eventbrite. Tickets will remain on sale until sold out. To buy tickets for Manassas, Burke Centre, Woodbridge, or Spotsylvania, you must visit the designated in-person vendor for that station. Information about other stations is available online. Kids will have another opportunity to see Kris Kringle at Braehead Farm during the first two weekends in December.

  • When: December, 6, 7, 13 and 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.Sunday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. until routes are finished.
  • Where: Braehead Farm, 1130 Tyler St., Fredericksburg
  • Details: No waiting inline. Go play untill your number is shown on the screen. Receive a special ticket from Santa! Make Snowman Soup with Santa’s helpers. Make a marshmallow snowman and roast marshmallows in the fire pits. Play in the Family Playgrounds and shop in the Market. More information can be found online.

Santa is also holding court at one local shopping mall.

Pet Photos With Santa

  • Details: Bring your pets for a photo with Santa and create unforgettable holiday memories. All pets must be on a leash or safely secured in a carrier. Please enter through the main entrance near Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Santa's Holiday Breakfast Featuring Chik-fil-A

  • Where: Near the Macy's store in the Village at Spotsylvania Towne Centre, 137 Spotsylvania Mall Drive, Fredericksburg.
  • When: Saturday, Dec. 13, 10 to 11 a.m.
  • Details: Enjoy a cheerful holiday breakfast from Chick-fil-A and a magical visit with Santa Claus. Share your Christmas wishes, enjoy a tasty breakfas and get creative with fun holiday crafts hosted by the Lions Club. Sign up now through Dec. 8. Submit your completed form and payment at the Customer Service Center or stop by Customer Service to pick up a form. Cost: $11 per person — includes one meal. Payment: Cash Only.
