FREDERICKSBURG, VA—An area distillery based in Spotsylvania County has received quite the intoxicating award. Namely, A. Smith Bowman Distillery won a Gold Medal at the 2019 World Whiskies Awards. The bourbon, according to a release, "was created from the same process used to make Abraham Bowman Port Finished Bourbon, which was named the World's Best Bourbon at the World Whiskies Awards in 2016."
Said Master Distiller Brian Prewitt in a statement: "We feel honored to receive Gold for our Isaac Bowman Whiskey. This recognition is truly special for us and a testament to our commitment to producing quality spirits."
Whiskies in each category at the World Whiskies Awards were subject to blind tastings in a three-round judging process. A. Smith Bowman Distillery moved to its present location in 1988 after a long run at Sunset Hills Farm in Fairfax County.
