It's Thursday, and we can all rejoice together that the end is finally near...again. If you have some free time today and you're looking for something interesting to do, here's some information you should know today in Alexandria.
WPHS Principal Cliff Hardison. Hardison — who was the principal for West Potomac since 2009 — unexpectedly died Tuesday following a recent illness. Students mourned the death of the man described as an inspirational educator by painting the rock in front of the high school in his honor. Currently, memorial services for Hardison have not been announced.
Urban Legends. The original student-collective play has only one night left (July 28). Hurry up and get your ticket to see a unique performance by West Potomac High School's Beyond the Page Theatre Company.

George Gershwin’s greatest. It’s too darn hot, but cool down with some classic Americana. The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra plays George Gershwin’s greatest hits at 8 p.m., Strathmore Hall, 5301 Tuckerman Lane in Bethesda, Md. Tickets cost $25 to $45. Show up an hour early for complimentary wine samples and live music.
Kids Rock. National Harbor is hosting kids’ band Milkshake for free concerts at 10 a.m. and noon at the Carousel at National Harbor.
