Adoptable Fairfax County Shelter Pets: 2 Old Buddies
These senior dogs have been friends for most of their lives and are looking for their "retirement home."

How would you like to turn your home into a dog retirement home? That's exactly what two senior dogs at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter are looking for.
Patch regularly features adoptable shelter pets available locally. This week's dogs are Oscar and Murphy, two old men that have been friends and lived together for much of their lives.
The dogs were taken to the shelter because they've become less tolerant of playing with the small kids in the home. They would do well in a quiet home but still love walks and playing. Both are considered small dogs.

Here's a full description from the Fairfax County Animal Shelter:
Meet Oscar and Murphy! These two little old men have lived together and been best friends most of their lives! And we don't plan to change that! They are friendly, laid back lap dogs who are loving, snuggly, and playful. They have occasional spats--like all siblings do--but they always make up with a little cuddling session. Murphy (the beagle) loves to chat with whomever will listen, and Oscar will jump up to give you hugs. They recently went on an outing with two of our fosters, and this is what they had to say: "Murphy and Oscar were a delight, two very sweet dogs who enjoyed meet and greets this morning. Both are friendly, sociable fellows who enjoyed strolling along, unperturbed by noises or traffic. Both need help getting into the car but have no objection to being picked up."
They are at the shelter because they were becoming less tolerant of the small children in the home. We can understand that! They're getting older and don't take to rough housing like they once did, so they got a little grumpy. And being older, they of course come with some seemingly manageable age-related issues to keep an eye on--we'll go over that with you when you come for a visit. They would love to find a nice quiet retirement home where they can hang out, go for walks, maybe spend a little time in the yard, and just be together--with YOU!
