Dog Park Study Underway In Fairfax County, Survey Open

The park authority is evaluating future needs for dog parks and resident concerns.

FAIRFAX, VA — The Fairfax County Park Authority has launched a study on dog parks in the county. While dogs are allowed on leashes at all county parks, the study focuses on the 11 off-leash parks.

The county's 11 dog parks are fenced areas where unleashed dogs can play. The study will guide long-term planning for dog parks. Areas being evaluated include countywide need and accessibility, design and site placement guidelines, maintenance and operations, rules and etiquette, and sponsorship and volunteer groups.

The park authority opened a public survey to identify dog park use, concerns and future need. The survey is available through Dec. 15. Comments can also be emailed to parkmail@fairfaxcounty.gov.
