Dogs And Their Humans Invited To Ides Of Bark In Mount Vernon

Grist Mill Park will go to the dogs with a free festival hosted by Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Beware the "Ides of Bark," because the dogs are taking over Grist Mill Park in Mount Vernon this weekend. Mount Vernon District Supervisor will host the free Ides of Bark Dog Festival Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

This event will feature entertainment for the whole family, including games, prizes, food and fun. The Fairfax County Police Department K-9 unit will be on site for demonstration, while Pet Tech instructors will offer first aid and CPR demonstrations and health assessments every half hour. Dog owners can license their dog with Fairfax County for $10 with cash or check and proof of a current rabies shot. Other vendors will be participating to offer different services for dogs.

Leashed dogs are welcome at the event. Off-leash time is allowed in the enclosed dog park at the event. Dog owners are urged to clean up after their pets.

The event is sponsored by the office of Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck, the Fairfax County Park Foundation and the Fairfax County Park Authority. Grist Mill Park is located at 4320 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Alexandria, VA.
