Fatally Shot Woman Brought To Mount Vernon Hospital, Boyfriend Charged

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — A man who showed up with a fatally shot woman at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital late Wednesday has been charged in her killing, Fairfax County Police say.

According to police, the woman's boyfriend brought to the hospital and remained on the scene. He told police the shooting happened in a parking lot, but detectives' investigation found he shot the woman in a vehicle, police said. Detectives found the gun near his home.

The woman, Alison “Kate” LaPorta, 38, of Lorton, was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was pronounced dead.

The suspect, Huy Tien Nguyen, 47, of Lorton, was charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond.
