Fort Hunt, Belle Haven Restaurants Join Alexandria Restaurant Week

FORT HUNT, VA — Alexandria Restaurant Week starts on Friday, and several restaurants south of the city will offer a variety of special menus.

The summer restaurant week from Aug. 18 to 27 features restaurant week dinner menus priced at $25, $35 or $45 per person. Over 70 restaurants will participate, including ones in Old Town, Del Ray, the West End and beyond.

There are two restaurants south of Alexandria in Fairfax County. Head to Fort Hunt near the waterfront to try Cedar Knoll's two-course menu for $45 per person. Hors d'oeuvres options include watermelon gazpacho, eggplant rolls, sausage fritters and fondue, and shrimpenadas. For the main course, enjoy crab and avocado, chicken paillard, pasta bolognese, or tomato tart. Dessert options include chocolate pate, lemon ginger semolina cake, no bake cheesecake, and Virginia peanut pie.

In Belle Haven, Dishes of India will offer a $25-per-person menu for dine-in or takeout. The menu provides a starter of bhel chaat with puffed rice, chopped onion, tomato, green pepper and tangy tamarind chutney. The main course is murg aam tikka masala with chicken breast made in a charcoal clay oven tandoor and cooked with mango curry with fresh mango, ginger, garlic, onion, turmeric, cumin and other spices. The dinner is served with naan, a flat bread baked on the wall lining of the tandoor.
