Fort Hunt Road Bike Lanes Proposal To Be Presented At Public Meeting
Fairfax County considers road restriping proposals during the annual repaving process, and Fort Hunt Road could get bike lanes.
BELLE HAVEN, VA — Bike lanes on part of Fort Hunt Road could be part of Fairfax County's 2023 restriping and repaving process.
The Virginia Department of Transportation repaves hundreds of Fairfax County roads each year. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation coordinates with VDOT during repaving and restriping to implement measures for traffic safety and enhanced transportation options.
In the Mount Vernon District, bike lanes are proposed on Fort Hunt Road between Richmond Highway and Belle View Boulevard. Buffered or standard bike lanes will be added "where space allows by narrowing travel lanes or repurposing underutilized parking lanes where feasible," according to the county's transportation department.
