Fort Belvoir will welcome visitors for a German-style Oktoberfest with a carnival. Here's how the public can access the military base.

FORT BELVOIR, VA — Fort Belvoir will be open to the public for a four-day Oktoberfest, but visitors will need to know ahead of time how to access the military base.

Fort Belvoir is typically restricted to visitors unless they have an access pass. Once every year, the US Army Garrison Fort Belvoir opens to visitors for Oktoberfest. This year's event will happen from Thursday, Sept. 28 to Sunday, Oct. 1 at Fort Belvoir's Fremont Field, 2104-6028 Goethals Road, Fort Belvoir, VA.

Visitors who don't have military or Department of Defense identification will need to have their state-issued driver's license and request a visitor pass before traveling to Fort Belvoir. Children 12 and younger can attend when accompanied by an adult.
