Ides Of Bark Brings Four-Legged Fun To Mount Vernon District

The dog days are coming as the Ides of Bark, a free dog festival, returns to Mount Vernon's Grist Mill Park.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Maybe it's not summer yet, but the dog days are almost here. The "Ides of Bark," an event for dogs and their humans, will return to the Mount Vernon District on Sunday, March 26.

Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck will host the event at Grist Mill Park, 4320 Mount Vernon Memorial Highway, Alexandria, VA, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on March 26. Attendance is free.

Ides of Bark will feature dozens of vendors offering pet-centric products and services. Furry friends can partake in games and compete for prizes. Other highlights include police dog demonstrations, an agility course for dogs to try, Pet First Aid/CPR demonstrations and health assessments by Pet Tech Instructors every half hour. Grist Mill Park has an off-leash dog park that furry friends can enjoy.

Dog owners are encouraged to be responsible for their pets and clean up after them. Dogs can be registered with Fairfax County for $10 by cash or check. Owners must provide proof of a current rabies shot.

The event is sponsored by Mount Vernon District Supervisor Dan Storck's office, the Fairfax County Park Foundation and the Fairfax County Park Authority.
