FORT HUNT, VA — A resource teacher at Groveton Elementary School is suspected of indecent exposure involving minors in the Stratford Landing neighborhood of Fort Hunt, according to Fairfax County Police.

James William Nugent II, 27, of Alexandria, was arrested Wednesday and charged with taking indecent liberties with a child and 13 counts of distribution of child pornography. The indecent liberties charge relates to a Saturday encounter with a minor.

According to police, Nugent approached the minor victim around 1:30 p.m. Saturday near the Camden Street and Wittington Boulevard intersection. He lured the minor to his van and exposed himself, police say.

The minor, who was not injured, fled and contacted police. A neighborhood resident provided surveillance footage of the van, and police found Nugent and the van using license plate reader technology. During a search warrant at Nugent's home, police found numerous child sexual abuse materials.

Nugent had worked as a resource teacher at Groveton Elementary School, but police say the indecent exposure case was not tied to his job. However, detectives believe Nugent exposed himself to at least four other victims near Stratford Elementary School in the last two weeks.
