Metropolitan School of the Arts’ To Present The Royal Revue-June 16-19

Alexandria, Va. Performing Arts School Kicks Off The ROYAL REVUE of Fairytale Royalty

Metropolitan School of the Arts (MSA) is kicking off summer break with spring dance production featuring popular fairytale princesses and princes in its the Royal Revue at the Rachel M. Schlesinger Concert Hall and Arts Center in Alexandria, Va., at 4915 E Campus Dr. on Thurs., June 16, and Fri., June 17 at 6:30 PM; and Sat., June 18 and Sun., June 19 at 12 PM and 5 PM on both days. More than 450 Metropolitan School of the Arts students will perform the spring production with support from 200 volunteers. The show is directed by Sara Hart and choreography by MSA faculty and MSA alumni from Pace University. The audience will get to see the modern-version of these fairytale royals, and learn where they live and about their careers. The MSA characters share life lessons that mimic MSA student values.

“The audience will get a new look at these wonderfully popular royal fairytales,” said Sara Hart, co-executive director of Metropolitan School of the Arts in Alexandria, Va. “Our characters were inspired by some of the most classic fairy princesses/princes, but we present a unique spin on their modern-day life,” said Hart.

As a non-profit organization, Metropolitan School of the Arts relies on the generous donations of sponsors and the community to sustain operations for its Academy and studio programming.

The Academy at Metropolitan School of the Arts is a college preparatory performing arts school for emerging young artists, grades 7 to 12, who are dedicated to a rigorous academic experience in a pre-professional performing arts conservatory environment. Their cross-curricular approach to arts training fills each young artist’s toolbox with the dance, music and acting skills necessary to be a triple threat in the arts world. Metropolitan School of the Arts approach to education is designed to develop independent, self-motivated and skilled learners. The school offers a post-high school graduate/gap program as well, for those students who desire an extra year to prepare for admittance into a performing arts university.
