Mount Vernon Children's Theatre To Perform 'The SpongeBob Musical'
Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre will whisk viewers to Bikini Bottom for the fall production, "The SpongeBob Musical."

GROVETON, VA — Young performers from Alexandria and Fairfax County schools are eager to present their latest fall production, "The SpongeBob Musical," in November.
Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre will present its fall production, with opening night on Nov. 11. Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Nov. 11, 12, 18 and 19 as well as 3 p.m. on Nov. 13 and 20 at Bryant High School, Popkins Lane, Alexandria. VA.
The children's theatre is performing its adaptation of the Broadway musical, based on the popular children's cartoon created by Stephen Hillenburg on Nickelodeon. The musical follows the adventures of the underwater yellow sponge Spongebob along with characters like Patrick, Squidward, Plankton and more. The production directed by Chinara Hill features songs, humor and fun for all ages.

"The cast is so excited to finally see an audience so please come out and show your support for our kids," said Kelly Gerstenberg, co-president and co-producer of the show.
The performance will feature students from 18 schools: Bishop Ireton High School, Brown Academy, Burgundy Farm Country Day School, Carl Sandburg Middle School, Clermont Elementary School, Douglas McArthur Elementary School, Fort Hunt Elementary School, George Washington Middle School, Hayfield Secondary School, Hollin Meadows Elementary School, Immanuel Lutheran School, Irving Middle School, Lyles-Crouch Traditional Academy, Orange Hunt Elementary School, St. Louis Catholic School, St. Mary’s Catholic School, Stratford Landing Elementary School, Washington Mill Elementary School, Washington Liberty High School, Waynewood Elementary School, West Potomac High School and West Springfield High School.

"It’s great to see so many talented kids come together from all over Alexandria and beyond and work together so well to bring the public this amazing performance," said Lexi Keogh, a board member who co-produces the show.
Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre has been providing arts education to young artists through theatre and creative play since 1979. The organization hosts three shows and summer camps each year.
