Mount Vernon, Franconia Nights Provide Free Concerts This Summer

Free musical performances representing a variety of genres will be held throughout the summer months around Fairfax County.

MOUNT VERNON, VA — Even if big-name concerts are out of your budget this summer, you can still catch free performances near your community.

The Fairfax County Park Authority's Summer Entertainment Series returns at locations around Fairfax County. In the Richmond Highway corridor, the closest locations are the Mount Vernon Nights hosted by Supervisor Dan Storck and Franconia Nights hosted by Supervisor Rodney Lusk. Attendees can bring a picnic dinner, chairs and blanket to enjoy during the performances.

Mount Vernon Nights will be held at two locations — Grist Mill Park (4710 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy., Alexandria, VA) at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Workhouse Arts Center (9518 Workhouse Way, Lorton, VA) at 7:30 p.m. Saturdays. Workhouse Arts Center will have beer, wine, sodas and snacks for purchase, while Grist Mill Park will have wine tastings.

Workhouse Arts Center

Franconia Nights will run 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Franconia Park, 6601 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA. Performances will range from jazz, big band and classic to bluegrass, Latin, swing and classic rock ‘n roll.
