Murder Charge Levied Against 16-Year-Old From VA In DC Fatal Shooting

A 16-year-old West Potomac High School student pleaded not guilty to a second degree murder while armed charge in a D.C. homicide case.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A 16-year-old West Potomac High School student is facing a second degree murder while armed charge in connection with the Oct. 21 homicide of 24-year-old Diamonte Lewis at a bar in Washington, D.C., according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Ashton Inabinet of Alexandria and an accomplice brought a firearm with them to what the U.S. Attorney described as a fist fight.

Lewis was shot and killed around 3:38 a.m., on Oct. 21 at Nellies Bar at 9th and U Streets N.W., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

On Wednesday, Inabinet was arrested and pleaded not guilty to the second degree murder charge in D.C. Superior Court. Inabinet was then held without bond and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 13 before Judge Robert Okun.
