Power Outages Hit Thousands Along Route 1 Corridor
Dominion Energy responded to over 4,000 outages Monday.
FORT HUNT, VA—Over 4,000 customers were without power Monday morning as strong winds impact the Route 1 corridor in Fairfax County.
According to Dominion Energy's outage map, over 2,700 people lost power in the Groveton-Hybla Valley area. The other major outage affected 1,500 in Fort Hunt and Hybla Valley. The latter was determined to be due to a downed tree on a power line.
Smaller outages were scattered from Huntington to Mount Vernon. Those outages were reported as of 9:30 a.m.

Fairfax County was under a high wind warning for part of Monday. The National Weather Service says strong winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 50 to 60 mph were likely. The strongest winds were expected Monday morning. Impacts could include downed power lines and trees and power outages.
