River Farm's Spring Garden Market Returns In 2024
Tickets have been released for River Farm's returning Spring Garden Market, an outdoor event to celebrate the start of gardening season.

FORT HUNT, VA — Get ready to fill your garden with vibrant flowers and greenery as River Farm will bring back its Spring Garden Market in 2024.
The Spring Garden Market is set for Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 7931 E. Boulevard Dr., Alexandria, VA. The popular event draws garden enthusiasts, vendors, gardening experts and more to the grounds of River Farm, which is headquarters of the American Horticultural Society. The setting also provides inspiration, as River Farm boasts formal and naturalistic gardens along the waterfront.
This year, the Spring Garden Market will feature new participants like Mid-Atlantic Pine Straw Mulch, Plants with Purpose Farm with its edible landscape plants, Gryffin River Shack and its decorative oyster garlands and wreaths, Pawfectly Delicious Dog Treats and more. Returning vendors include Nature by Design, Hill House Farm & Nursery, and Radical Roots Community Farm and more. The Fairfax County Master Gardeners Association will be on site to answer plant and gardening questions. Other vendors include Lilian and Nathalie Cake with its botanical baked goods, The Little Well with coffee and Rocklands with barbecue.

Proceeds from the Spring Garden Market support the preservation of River Farm, once part of George Washington's farms and American Horticultural Society's headquarters since 1973. The American Horticultural Society had backed off plans to sell River Farm after a Save River Farm movement to protect River Farm as a publicly-accessible landmark. The American Horticultural Society affirmed its commitment to keep River Farm as a local resource when it took the property off the real estate market.
