Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Emily is humble, hard-working, and very thoughtful. She's an excellent student with a unique drive to learn. She is taking all Advanced Academics classes along with Honors Algebra 1 (a high school level class and her first quarter report card is all "A". In addition to school and sports, she is an excellent member of our community. She created a glass pick-up business when she was in 4th grade and it's still going strong. Beginning in 2020, our neighborhood's recycling company stopped accepting glass so Emily saw an opportunity to provide a much-needed service to our neighbors. Every Saturday morning, she rides around our neighborhood on her bike and collects the glass that her customers leave for her on their curb. She bikes up and down pretty steep hills while carrying a bike trailer full of glass (not easy!). Her reputation in our neighborhood is solid. We've lived in our home for 7 years and our neighbors regularly call on her to take care of their gardens when they're away on vacation and dog sit in their homes while they're away for a few hours. She's responsible, caring, and always ready to lend a hand. In addition to her community engagement and strong academic commitment, she also manages to play lacrosse (goalie), compete on a swim team, play basketball, and compete in triathlons. Last but not least, she is a really, really incredible person. Her little sister and her parents adore her.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

She's humble, talented, driven, and kind.

Keep up the great work, Emily / Grade 7!
