Supervisor Storck: Prepare for Potential for Street Flooding in New Alexandria, Belle View, Huntington

Supervisor Dan Strock says residents in the Belle View/New Alexandria and Huntington area need to plan for possible flooding next 48 hours.

Lots of Rain on the Way...possible 3 to 5 inches!
Potential Flooding for Fairfax County and the Region in the next 24-48 hours

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- The U.S. National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for much of the area late Wednesday night to early Friday morning. County residents, particularly those who reside in the Huntington and Belle View communities, please be prepared for the potential of street flooding that typically come with the heavy rains in conjunction with higher than normal tides. Possible 3 to 5 inches of rain is expected locally.

Preparatory actions for the coming significant rainfall have begun in the Mount Vernon district. These actions include placing sign boards along Huntington and in Belle View to warn of the potential for street flooding over the next couple of days as well as sending out alerts via RiverWatch, message boards, etc. Shelter planning is also underway if any evacuations are required. The Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Service (DPWES), Police, and Fire are closely monitoring the area. Please remember to stay alert and avoid flooded roadways!
