  1. Two teenagers were arrested after stabbing an elderly Rockingham County man while he was asleep, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office. At about 2 a.m. on Sunday, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to a stabbing on Rosedale Drive. The release said the teens, 16 and 15, violently attacked the 75-year-old man with knives as he slept. The teenagers, one of them the man's granddaughter, are being held on charges of attempted murder, aggravated malicious wounding, and conspiracy to commit a felony. They are both being held at the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center in Staunton. (The News Leader)
  2. In honor of Stroke Awareness Month, Brain Injury Connections is offering support to stroke and brain injury survivors. The organization, based in Harrisonburg, serves the counties of Rockingham, Augusta, Page, Shenandoah, Bath, Highland, Rockbridge, and most recently Rappahannock. The facility provides case management, education and advocacy, crisis intervention team training, support groups, and more for those needing assistance navigating life post-injury. (WHSV)
  3. The James Madison University (JMU) women’s lacrosse team was ranked No. 6 in the country in the latest Inside Lacrosse/Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association top 25 poll. JMU follows Northwestern, Boston College, North Carolina, Syracuse, and Denver. The team will face Cincinnati for the American Athletic Conference lacrosse tournament on Thursday. (WHSV)

  • Join Harrisonburg Tourism for its Explore Rocktown Trails biking event on May 6 at Hillandale Park. Harrisonburg Tourism will be partnering with four Harrisonburg High School government students to offer bikers a tour through the trails.
