- On Saturday evening, an officer-involved shooting occurred near Liberty Street in Harrisonburg after a victim was abducted from the Old Furnace Road area. According to the director of communications for Harrisonburg, the only person injured was the suspect. The Harrisonburg Police Department pursued the suspect's car until it reached Liberty Street, where the shooting occurred. The abducted victim was safely retrieved from the car, and the investigation is ongoing. (The Breeze)
- The next Harrisonburg City Council Meeting will occur on Tuesday, May 9. at 7:00 p.m. at Council Chambers. City Council Meetings are held every second and fourth Tuesday of the month. - In case you missed it: The Harrisonburg Police Department is hosting a free program called P.A.T.C.H. Camp for young adults who are interested in law enforcement. The program aims to foster and enhance skills such as pride, accountability, teamwork, courage, and honor in the participants. The week-long summer camp will provide a hands-on approach to educating the participants about the various duties of police officers and will be supervised by officers of the Harrisonburg Police Department and other volunteers.
