Here are the top three stories in Harrisonburg today:
- Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS) is organizing its 21st annual March for Meals to celebrate its Meals on Wheels program, which provides nutritious meals to older adults in the Harrisonburg and Rockingham County area. To raise awareness and funds, a "Cask for a Cause" event will be held tonight (Friday, Mar. 17), from 6-10 p.m. at Brothers Craft Brewing in Harrisonburg; the event will feature a raffle, live music, and a food truck. Over the past year, VPAS delivered upward of 55,000 meals to housebound seniors in the area. (WHSV)
- Rockingham County Parks and Recreation (RCPR) is reminding visitors to adhere to mandatory pet policies when visiting Rockingham Park at the Crossroads in nearby Penn Laird. In particular, dog owners are asked to leash and clean up after their four-legged friends. This reminder comes after several recent incidents involving agitated and unleashed pets. According to RCPR Director Kirby Dean, following these policies can help avoid situations that could lead to more restrictive limits on dogs in the park. (WHSV)
- Harrisonburg officials remind the community of continued work for the Route 33 bridge replacement and I-81 Exit 247 interchange improvement project. Alternating lane closures will remain in effect, with work zone speed limits of 25 miles per hour. For more information on the project and impacted roads, visit the Virginia DOT website.
