- In case you missed it: Rockingham County Fairgrounds is holding a free two-day clinic May 6-7 for those in need of dental and vision services. Volunteer medical professionals at the national nonprofit Remote Area Medical (RAM) will conduct services such as dental cleanings, eye exams, eyeglasses made on-site, women’s health exams, and more. Services will be on a first-come, first-served basis. (NBC 29)
- A Harrisonburg City councilmember is appearing in Harrisonburg/Rockingham General District Court on Monday, May 15 at 10 a.m. under charges of driving while intoxicated. This is Christopher Jones' first alleged DWI offense, according to court records. Jones has been a member of Harrisonburg’s City Council since 2014. (WHSV)
- Motorists are being cautioned to stay alert as city workers will be planting new greenhouses in areas of traffic within the next few weeks. The City of Harrisonburg’s Pollinator and Urban Forestry programs are adding two new greenhouses around the city that will grow pollinator plants and trees. With the greenhouses, Public Works Green Space Manager Jeremy Harold hopes to replenish some of the greenery lost over the years. (WHSV)

- In case you missed it: Harrisonburg was named an IMBA Bronze Level Ride Center, Bike Friendly Community, and one of 10 Best Blue Ridge Bike Towns (Blue Ridge Outdoors) by the League of American Bicyclists. Harrisonburg is home to The Rocktown Trails, Massanutten Western Slopes, the George Washington National Forest, and more. (Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine)
- Political science professor Ken Rutherford was appointed to Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s (R) Board of Historic Resources. Rutherford lost his legs in a 1993 landmine accident while helping refugees in Somalia and has dedicated his life to landmine prevention and warfare restrictions since. (The Breeze)
- A Frost Advisory was issued until today (May 5) at 9 a.m. for Harrisonburg and other counties. Officials are warning temperatures near freezing could damage plants and other temperature-sensitive items. (Travis Koshko via Twitter)
