- Laura Lee Wright of Harrisonburg has just published a book. Her book "Beyond Sober: You Put Down the Booze, Now What?" represents the fulfillment of her life's dream to become an author. She wants to help others recover from alcoholism and relates what she learned on her own personal journey. (WHSV)
- The NewBridges Immigrant Resource Center is moving to a new location after eight years. Executive Director Russell Leary says it is very important that they now have a proper reception area and several more offices. The social services organization is extremely busy, having almost non-stop consultations. If you have extra office furniture or other materials, donations are welcome. (WHSV)
- Don McLean, Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter, announced Monday that he will perform at the Shenandoah Valley Music Festival on Jul. 22, at nearby Orkney Springs. The show starts at 8:00 p.m. After touring internationally, McLean said it is good to be back in Shenandoah. Tickets are still available. (Northern Virginia Daily)

- The Harrison Police Department is notifying drivers that cameras have been installed on East Market Street to catch people who speed in the construction zone. The data gathered by the cameras in just the first week has revealed more than 7,000 speeding violations. Authorities say there has been a grace period, but it is rapidly coming to an end and as of Aug. 5, violators will be fined $100 per violation. (WHSV)
- Molly Grube, a graduate transfer from UVA, is now poised to play softball at James Madison University. She is a right-handed pitcher and started in 50 of her 67 games at UVA. JMU anticipates a great 2023 season. (WHSV)
- Have you always been interested in stage lighting and sound? The Friendly City Players are holding a workshop, "Beginners Light and Sound," tomorrow Jul. 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. They will instruct you on how to design lighting and in sound operation. The free event is located at the Harrisonburg Homes Team facility. (All events)
