- On Mar. 8, dozens of volunteers left Harrisonburg for Baltimore to assist the people of Ukraine. They drove 22 renovated ambulances to provide aid to the country. The mission was a humanitarian effort to support Ukraine against Russia's invasion. (NBC 29)
- Kasey Thompson, a senior at Harrisonburg High School (HHS), was awarded the title of 2023 Virginia Student Journalist of the Year. As the editor-in-chief of the school's media department, Thompson leads the production of the yearbook and newspaper. Despite challenges posed by the pandemic and tight deadlines, Thompson always gives her best effort according to HHS Media adviser Valerie Kibler. (WHSV)
- The City of Harrisonburg is using roadway reconfigurations as a strategy to enhance road safety and create better bike and pedestrian infrastructure. This method involves changing the number and alignment of lanes to improve operations and safety on roads. Generally, the reconfiguration results in one lane in each direction, a center turn lane, bicycle lanes in each direction, and additional turn or storage lanes where necessary. (HarrisonburgVA.gov)
