Here are the top three stories today in Harrisonburg:
- Get ready to un-wine this weekend as the Shenandoah Valley Wine Festival returns on Saturday, Jun. 24 at the Museum of the Shenandoah Valley from 1:00-7:00 p.m. A total of 10 wineries, eight craft vendors, food trucks, and live music will be present at the festival, and your ticket will gain you 20 different wine tastings. Purchase tickets in advance here. (WHSV)
- Two new "efficiency apartments" for individuals who have previously struggled with chronic homelessness will open this Friday, Jun. 23. The two affordable apartments on Reservoir Street will be opened by local nonprofit Our Community Place with a ribbon cutting at 3:00 p.m. In addition to the lower apartment rates, the organization will also help tenants acquire any necessities, like furniture and dishes, for the new homes. (The Citizen)
- It's currently National Pollinator Week, but The City of Harrisonburg has been celebrating National Pollinator Month with a variety of events taking place across town all month long. Take part in upcoming events like a Lunch and Learn About Pollinators on Jun. 23 or a Bee Hotel Workshop on Jun. 27, to celebrate the month and Harrisonburg's status as a city known for its pollinator efforts.
