- Despite the denial of James Madison University (JMU)'s waiver for bowl eligibility, Athletic Director Jeff Bourne assures that the university is financially well-prepared. The budget has been set with provisions made for potential revenue losses, and JMU can still receive partial revenue from the Sun Belt Conference based on the conference's performance this season. While the waiver was not granted, there is still a chance for JMU to participate in a bowl game if they win at least six games and there is a shortage of eligible teams. (WHSV)
- Harrisonburg officials are implementing additional safety measures in the work zone along East Market Street due to concerns about speeding. The ongoing bridge reconstruction project has prompted the installation of mobile speed cameras to monitor and capture images of vehicles exceeding the 25 miles per hour limit. The cameras will be activated today, Jun. 26, and after a two-month warning period, fines of $100 will be issued to speeding violators. (WHSV)
