Donald Trump Speaks Monday Morning to Veterans in Herndon

Republican presidential candidate was speaking on cybercrime after a rough week on the campaign trail.

HERNDON, VA — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump was speaking Monday morning in Herndon to a veterans group.

In his comments, Trump spoke about cybersecurity and military readiness.

"I will make sure our military is the best in the world — in cyber-offense and cyber-defense … really in every way," Trump said.

Trump attacked the integrity of the Justice Department, saying the department needs wholesale reform in the same way it did following Watergate.

Trump's comments come as Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton continues to face questions about the use of a private e-mail server as U.S. Secretary of State, as well as questions about the FBI and Justice Department investigation of that use.

Today is just the beginning of a long overdue national discussion on cybercrime, Trump said.

The prepared comments were a notable shift from a week of personal attacks against Clinton and her surrogates that included a suggestion Friday that Clinton was not faithful to her husband.

It was also a rough weekend for Trump, with a New York Times report on 20-year-old tax records. They show the candidate lost nearly $1 billion in 1995, and could have avoided paying taxes for up to 18 years following that filing.
