• Fairfax County Meals Tax To Begin In 2026: 5 Things To Know (patch.com) — If you eat out in Herndon in 2026, your meals tax will stay town-only at 4.5 percent, while the new 4 percent Fairfax County meals tax won’t be added on top. The county explains which foods are taxed, which are exempt, and how restaurants and event organizers will handle the new charges elsewhere in Fairfax.
   

• Extended stay hotel in Fair Lakes could be turned into apartments (ffxnow.com) — Herndon residents may soon see another Sonesta extended-stay hotel here converted into apartments, similar to a new proposal in nearby Fair Lakes. A New York firm is buying and rezoning Sonesta properties nationwide, often adding some affordable units and reducing parking, reflecting a broader Fairfax County trend of turning older commercial sites into housing.
   

• Housing with community center proposed for former T-Mobile campus in Reston (ffxnow.com) — A major redevelopment next to the Herndon Metro station could bring more than 1,000 new homes, a community center, and new park space to the Reston-side of the border, with some parking using the Herndon Metro garage. Stanley Martin Homes proposes replacing the former T-Mobile campus with mixed multifamily and townhouse housing, income-restricted units, and upgraded bike and pedestrian connections.
