Fairfax Connector Riders Encouraged to Sign Up for Alerts During Winter Weather

During inclement weather, heavy snow or icy conditions, Fairfax Connector may reduce, modify or suspend service due to wintry conditions.

During inclement weather, heavy snow or icy conditions, Fairfax Connector may reduce, modify or suspend service due to poor travel conditions, the service announced Friday afternoon. If road conditions become unsafe, icy or snow packed, service may be suspended on a route-by-route basis, or system-wide.

As the region is expecting some wintry weather this weekend, passengers are reminded to plan for their commutes and to take 3 easy steps to stay informed of operating status, service changes and detours:

  • Sign-up for text and/or email alerts through Fairfax Alerts by subscribing to “Fairfax Connector Passenger Information.”
  • Follow Fairfax Connector on Twitter and Facebook.
  • Call Fairfax Connector customer service at 703-339-7200, TTY 703-339-1608; Mon - Fri 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sat - Sun 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Se habla Español.

In case of snow accumulation this weekend, riders are encouraged to prepare for longer waits at bus stops and to allow additional travel time as buses may be traveling slower than normal due to possibly poor road conditions. Also, make sure to dress warmly as you may have to wait for the bus longer than normal. Do not stand in the street while waiting for a bus and use extreme caution when walking on exposed surfaces, including parking lots and station platforms.
