Here are the top three stories in Kingstowne-Rose Hill today:

  1. The Fairfax County Police Department has released the names of the two officers involved in a deadly shooting outside of Tysons Corner Center up the road in Tysons. The department is required to identify officers involved in shootings within 10 days of the incident, and over the weekend, the department released the names of Sergeant Wesley Shifflett and Police Officer Class James Sadler. Both officers reportedly fired their weapons at Timothy McCree Johnson, 37, who allegedly stole sunglasses from one of the center's stores. (WJLA)
  2. The nearby Fort Belvoir is struggling to fill open positions, according to base officials. The base is one of the largest employers in Fairfax County, but it is unable to find and keep enough staff for necessary base operations due to competitive wages and low unemployment rates in the county. Due to the lack of sufficient staff, the base has had to close the Lieber and Walker gates. (Inside NoVa)
  3. Despite interest rates that are higher than they were a year ago, homes continue to hit the local housing market. Here are five of the newest properties up for sale in and around the Kingstowne-Rose Hill area, including a three-bedroom, four-bathroom townhome for $589,900. (Kingstowne-Rose Hill Patch)
