Suspect Faces Charges After Assaulting Officer in Kingstowne: Police

Officers were called to a home for a report of a man assaulting a woman, police said.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A man from Washington state is facing charges after he assaulted a law enforcement officer at a home in the Kingstowne area, Fairfax County Police said Monday.

The incident took place in the early hours Sunday, at 12:45 a.m., in the 6100 block of Essex House Square (see map below), where officers responded to a 43-year-old woman’s home for a report of an acquaintance who assaulted her, according to police.

As officers attempted to take the man into custody, he resisted and fled into a room. He then came out of the room and struck an officer, according to police. Officers were able to gain control and handcuffed him.

Geoffrey Shraga, 34, of Lacey, Wash., was taken to jail and charged with assault and assaulting a law enforcement officer. Both victims were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
