Friday, Nov. 11: Hang Out with Bats

Riverside Campfire – Batty about Bats : Bats! Learn more about these fascinating and mysterious night-flying marvels through games and activities and discover why they are disappearing from our skies. Bring a toasting stick; s’mores provided. Come early if you’d like and bring a picnic or hot dogs to roast. From 6 to 7 p.m. at Riverbend Park. Ages 2 and up. Children must be accompanied by a registered adult. $7/person. Night Hike Campfire : Take a nighttime walk with a naturalist to search for wildlife and then enjoy a campfire and s’mores — all ingredients provided. From 5 to 7 p.m. at Burke Lake Park. Family Fun – Bird Walk : Bring family members ages 5 and up for a guided bird walk through the autumn gardens where birds are preparing for winter. Bring field glasses if you have them and we’ll provide a bird search sheet. Warm up with some hot cider and talk more with our guide about the birds we saw and heard. Boardwalk Astronomy : What’s new in the night sky? Join naturalists on a tour of constellations, comets and other current events happening in the heavens above. April Verch Band – Bluegrass: April Verch steps, sings and fiddles with a fresh and feisty approach to deep North American traditions. She is currently touring the world to share songs from her milestone 10th album, The Newpart. At the heart of her impressive skills lie Verch’s delicate voice, energetic footwork and stunning fiddle playing – talents she brings together simultaneously to jaw-dropping effect. Sunday Afternoon Dance: Dancers of all skill levels are welcome to foxtrot, swing, cha-cha and waltz. Music selection ranges from golden oldies to today’s more modern dance selections.
