"So many of these pets had loving families, and through no fault of their own now need a new place to call home,” LCAS Operations Manager Melissa Heard said in a news release. “While we work with as many families as possible to help them keep their pets, right now we are in critical need of adopters and temporary fosters willing to take adult dogs."

Anyone interested in fostering a dog can fill out the animal shelter's interest form. The county's animal services division will provide food, support, and supplies. The foster experience lets dogs in need experience home for up to two weeks.

The county also offers resources for families who are concerned about losing their pets. The pet pantry offers pet food for those who need it, and the Post-Adoption Well-Being and Support program offers additional resources.
