- Recent data from local law enforcement shows guns and drugs are connected in Lynchburg, with firearms making up seven percent of all drug offenses. From 2020 to March 2023, the Lynchburg Police Department responded to 1,495 shots-fired calls and recorded 1,823 drug offenses. The total number of incidents involving both guns and drugs is 131, with firearms being involved in 7.19 percent of all drug offenses. (WSET)
- Motorists should expect traffic delays through May 4 due to milling operations. The operation will take place from 7:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. today (Apr. 28) and again from May 1-4. The milling work is for portions of Grace Street from Florida Avenue to the Grace Street bridge. Motorists should expect minor delays, as traffic will be restricted to one lane with the assistance of flag personnel. No on-street parking will be allowed during the construction and towing will be enforced. (WFXRtv.com)
- The Lynchburg Humane Society (LHS) is working to get a dog back home to its rightful owner after it was wrongfully given away on Saturday, Apr. 22. The dog was βwrongfully given away by a family memberβ in the humane society parking lot to someone, according to LHS. The circumstances of the incident have not been made clear, but LHS is looking through security footage to see if cameras captured anything that will help get the dog back home. If anyone has any information about this dog, they are asked to email Jill@lynchburghumane.org. (WDBJ)

- Noodles and Company is set to open its first Lynchburg location on Wednesday, May 10. The store will be located at 3919 Wards Road. (WSET)
- In a door-to-door "Walk-About Wednesday" event, Lynchburg firefighters Sean McCleese and others spoke with city residents to educate them on fire safety. They handed out brochures and smoke detectors to neighborhoods that have been identified as hotspots, or highly populated areas where most of the fires happen. (WSLS 10)
- Lynchburg City Schools is seeking community feedback for its facilities master plan starting May 1, according to a news release from the school system. Each meeting will start at 6 p.m. For a full list of dates and locations, visit the link. (Lynchburg News and Advance)
