Here are the top three stories in Lynchburg today:
- Lynchburg radio legend Fletcher Hubbard Sr. passed away Monday morning at the age of 96 years old. Hubbard woke up the community with gospel music and wisdom through the radio for the past 60 years and brought positivity to the Lynchburg community throughout his life without retiring. (WFXR)
- Four schools in Lynchburg read a combined 512,109 minutes for this year's Read-A-Thon. Bedford Hills started participating in the Read-A-Thon in 2020, and since then, Paul Munro Elementary, T. C. Miller Elementary, and R. S. Payne Elementary have also joined in the event and fundraising. The schools raised a combined $44,110 with all their reading, and the top readers of many categories received several prizes like bikes, parties, and more. (WSLS 10)
- Lynchburg's own Mary Thompson was crowned the ultimate biscuit maker after winning Bojangles' Biscuit Baking Competition on Thursday, Mar. 19. This was the first time the annual competition has been held in the last three years. The competition was split into two different categories, Company Restaurant and Franchise Restaurant, and Thompson was the winner of the franchise category; she currently works at the Forest Bojangles restaurant.
