• Home declared total loss in Madison Heights fire, officials say (wset.com) — A Madison Heights-area home on Brightwells Mill Road was destroyed by a Monday morning fire, with officials estimating $250,000 in damage but reporting no injuries. An Amherst County sheriff’s sergeant first spotted the smoke, prompting a full county fire response and a defensive attack before crews moved inside. The Amherst County Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause.
   

• Board OKs telehealth policy, updated on Amherst high school renovation (newsadvance.com) — Amherst County Public Schools, which serve many Madison Heights families, has approved a new telehealth-style policy to expand school-based mental health therapy services. Board members also received a detailed update on the long-running Amherst County High School renovation, including new nursing program space and other facility upgrades that will shape students’ daily learning environment.
