City Hopes to Play Largest "Red Light-Green Light" Game for Guinness Record

The city of Manassas is orchestrating a large game of red light-green light on May 4 to encourage health outdoor activity.

The city of Manassas is looking to unseat the Ford Motor Company as the Guinness World Record holder for the largest game of Red Light-Green Light.

Manassas is scheming to overtake the automobile giant on May 4, the city's Big Day of Serving in the Weems community, according to the city's website.

Ford set the record less than a year ago on Sept. 18 in Dearborn, Mich. by rallying up 451 people to stop-and-go while playing the popular children's game.

In addition to setting the world record, the city hopes to encourage its residents to spend more time during outdoor activities such as red light-green light.

The Big Day of Serving is an event that rallies youth and adult volunteers to transform the Weems community through environmental, recreational and educational projects.

Big Day of Serving project sites include Weems Elementary, Byrd Park and Stonewall Park.

There, residents can do mulching, landscaping, picking up litter, cleaning ponds and stream, removing graffiti and painting basketball courts.

A free lunch will be delivered to volunteers at their project sites.

The day will end with a block party, complete with food and live entertainment.

Visit the city's website for more information on how to get involved.
