District Teen Arrested In Manassas Shooting: Police

The 17-year-old has been charged in the shooting death of another teen early Wednesday.

MANASSAS, VA — The Manassas City Police Department announced Friday that a Washington, D.C., male youth has been arrested in the shooting death early Wednesday, July 10, of a teenager on a Manassas street. The police did not release the name of the 17-year-old male, who was charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The shooting occurred in the 8600 block of Diane Court, off Portner Avenue near the historic Liberia plantation house.

Police officers responded to the scene at 5:28 a.m. Wednesday and found the shooting victim, also an unidentified 17-year-old male. He was taken to a local hospital, where he died of his wounds, the police said.

"The investigation revealed a discharge of a firearm resulted in the death of the victim," the police said Friday in a statement.

The police said Wednesday that no foul play was involved. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
