Manassas Man Wins Nearly $900K From Virginia Lottery

MANASSAS, VA — A Manassas man has plenty to smile about following his recent win playing the Virginia Lottery. Jay House is nearly $900,000 richer after purchasing his Cash 5 with EZ Matchticket for the Aug. 16 drawing.

The next morning, when he checked the winning numbers, House received a shock. He’d matched all five winning numbers to win the top prize: $893,315, lottery officials said.

“It feels great to win!” he told Virginia Lottery officials as he claimed his jackpot.

The winning numbers for that drawing were 25-27-32-37-40. He bought his ticket at CVS, located at 9972 Liberia Avenue in Manassas. He used Easy Pick and allowed the computer to randomly select the numbers on his ticket.

Cash 5 with EZ Match features a rolling jackpot, starting at a minimum of $100,000. If nobody matches all five winning numbers, the jackpot increases for the next drawing. In addition, a player who spends an extra dollar for EZ Match receives five randomly generated numbers with a prize of up to $500 associated with each number. If those numbers match any of the numbers on the ticket for the drawing, the player wins that prize – even before the drawing is held.

House said he is going to use his winnings for bills, maybe a trip and thinking about retirement.
