MANASSAS, VA — Incumbent Manassas Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger and three Democratic candidates for three Manassas City Council seats are projected winners of the November election, according to unofficial results reported by the city.

In the mayoral race, Democrat Davis-Younger secured a second term over Republican challenger Xiao-Yin "Tang" Byrom. With all six precincts reporting, Davis-Younger has 56.91 percent of votes to Byrom's 42.75 percent, according to unofficial results.

Davis-Younger, who was elected as mayor in 2020, was previously elected to the city council in 2019 and ran the human resources consulting firm The1ForHR, LLC. Byrom is owner of Tang's Bridal Alterations & Bespoke.

Of the six Manassas City Council seats, three of the seats were up for election in 2024. One of the seats is being vacated by Vice Mayor Pamela Sebesky, who chose not to run for re-election.

Democratic candidates who won the June primary election are Hutson, Osina and Wolfe. Osina and Wolfe are incumbents, while Hutson is a new candidate who has been on several local committees and boards and works for the Heavy Construction Contractors Association.

The Republican candidates chosen by party nomination are Robyn Williams, Lynn Forkell Greene and Stephen Kent. Williams is a current school board member. Forkell Greene is a former city council member who won a 2021 special election after Davis-Younger won the mayoral election. Kent, a public relations professional, has school-age children.

The councilmembers' four-year terms are staggered, which means elections are held every two years for three seats. The mayor also serves four-year terms.

Along with mayor and city council, Manassas residents had four Manassas School Board seats, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, president and a Virginia constitutional amendment on the general election ballot.
