Manassas Mayoral Forum To Feature Davis-Younger, Byrom

MANASSAS, VA — With just over a month to go until November's general election, both candidates for Manassas mayor will join a candidate forum Tuesday.

Democratic Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger and Republican challenger Xiao-Yin "Tang" Byrom will join the mayoral forum will be hosted by the Prince William Chamber on Oct. 1 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. It will be held in person at the Manassas Museum and virtually.

The in-person event is full, but residents can tune in to the live stream through the Prince William Chamber.

Elected as Mayor in 2021, Davis-Younger is seeking re-election. Davis-Younger was previously elected to the city council in 2019, also ran the human resources consulting firm The1ForHR, LLC. According to her campaign website, Davis-Younger's campaign priorities are supporting economic development, building smart city infrastructure, supporting mental health services and support, and prioritizing environmental efforts.

Byrom, owner of Tang's Bridal Alterations & Bespoke, is challenging the incumbent. Her campaign priorities shared in a candidate profile are improving the public school system, recruiting and retaining staff, and addressing public safety.

Mayors serve four-year terms in the City of Manassas. The Nov. 5, 2024 election features races for mayor, three Manassas City Council seats, four Manassas School Board seats, U.S. Senate, U.S. House, president and a Virginia constitutional amendment. Early voting started on Sept. 20.
