New Director at Helm of Leadership Prince William

Manassas-area resident and business owner Kathy Bentz, of Bentz Communications is the new leader of the organization, which is accepting applications for its 2014 class through May 30.

Long-time area resident and business owner Kathy Bentz is Leadership Prince Williams's new executive director,  Board of Regents Chairman Bennett C. Whitlock announced this month.

 Bentz, a graduate of the Leadership Prince William Class of 2010,  has lived, worked, owned a business and volunteered in the Prince William area for more than 20 years. 

She was most recently a the helm of Bentz Communications, a consulting firm with clients such as the Prince William County Arts Council, Americans in Wartime Museum and Greater Prince William Community Health Center.

 Bentz was also the communications director for the Prince William County government and continues to be an active community volunteer, according to a release issued by Leadership Prince William this month.

 “Leadership Prince William is building on six years of success and poised for future growth,” Whitlock said. “We believe Kathy is the right person to work with our Board, our alumni and class members, and our many volunteers to take Leadership Prince William to the next level. She brings the right mix of skills, experience and enthusiasm to the job.”   As executive director, Bentz will lead the organization in nurturing, training and supporting leaders in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park. 
Each year, the organization conducts a 10-month leadership development program for established and emerging local leaders who want to prepare for leadership roles in business, local government and community affairs.  So far, than 150 people have graduated from the program and are actively contributing to the community, according to the release.   Leadership Prince William is currently recruiting for the class of 2014.
