New Gainesville District Supervisor George Stewart To Be Sworn In
A new member will be joining the Prince William Board of County Supervisors after the special election to fill the Gainesville seat.

GAINESVILLE, VA — Democrat George Stewart will be sworn in as the new supervisor representing the Gainesville District Friday.
Prince William County will host Stewart's swearing-in ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday in the atrium of the James J. McCoart Government Administration Building, located at 1 County Complex Court, Woodbridge, VA.

Stewart won the Nov. 4 special election for Gainesville District supervisor against Republican Patrick Harders. Stewart's win flipped the Board of County Supervisors seat, leaving Democrats with a 6-2 majority.
The Gainesville District covers parts of western Prince William County, and data center development has been a key issue in the district. Stewart is a Navy veteran and financial consultant who attributed his campaign to "concerns over the unchecked spread of data centers across western Prince William County."

As reported by Inside Nova, Stewart shared on election night that Weir had the right approach to data centers, saying "we have to get back to old-fashioned community building that doesn’t include data centers."
Stewart's other campaign priorities included responsible growth, environmental protection, attainable housing to maintain affordability and safe communities through supports like expanded mental health programs, youth programs and addressing food insecurity.
